The Great Outdoors

I grew up in the backseat of a station wagon headed to a campground “out west” or “up north”.

My upbringing deeply influenced my views on spending time in and protecting the environment. It’s something I’m passionate about in my work as well as my free time.

If I could choose to be anywhere it would be outdoors - hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, or just sitting by a fire with a beverage.

Social Justice

I believe in equality for all people. I spend my time, talents, and money to support rights for all.

Car Guy?

I have a reputation as being a “car guy,” which I think is inevitable when you grow up in the Motor City and work in automotive. In reality, I know many “car guys” and they are way out of my league. But I do know cars and understand engines — maybe just in a different way. I understand the market, and I know the culture. I’ve been to the Bonneville Salt Flats as the PR guy for a corporate team setting land speed records; I’ve done hot laps on the track with drivers who will scare you on their warm-up lap; I’ve stepped foot in a dynamometer chamber while a heavy-duty engine wound down from calibration testing. I have a deep respect and appreciation for engines and automobiles and the technology that powers them.

Mostly I just wish my Subaru Outback came with a diesel engine and a manual transmission.

Technology

I’ve spent my career working with technology in one form or another - from communicating complex CAE and supercomputing stories, to using the newest technology to help make my job, and life in general, easier. I have a strong interest in digital privacy issues, and see a unique opportunity for those in marketing and communications to embrace a new way of outreach that respects user privacy.
